I am a retired dentist, a travel-wandering soul, a music making free-spirit and spice-loving foodie.

My love of food began at the age of five. Never interested in cold cereal from a box or hot oatmeal from a pot (which to this day I call gruel), I learned to cook eggs and make myself a proper breakfast as a youngster living in Boulder. As the years passed, my love of cooking (and eating) continued and I took up the role of head-chef for my Explorer Scout Troupe, cooking over an open fire in the hills and dales of Puerto Rico. By the time I was in college, I was something of a pro at whipping up ‘unique’ dinners on a bargain budget, with cheap/tough meat (some, who will not be named, would call them crap).

After graduating, I joined the Navy as a Dental Officer, and eventually went into a group practice, from which I am now retired (known as re-invention). Over the years, I have kept my love of travel and culinary arts alive with amazing cooking classes… From Barcelona, to Santa Fe, to sausage making (the one class my wife prefers to forget), to 30ish classes at our local Sur La Table (19 of those taken in 1 month during an intensive summer of cooking indulgence) and even a class on a Disney Cruise ship, every experience has helped to fuel the foodie fire.

To this day, I dig being in the kitchen with my wife whipping up, chopping up, and serving up dinner for two or twenty, while listening to great music and planning our next great adventure. Life is good.

Best Known For… Love of world-music and being the Executive Editor for Bass Musician Magazine.

Personal Philosophy… Re-invention is all about following your passion, for me this means music, food and travel. To quote the great philosopher Dr. Seuss, “You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose. You’re on your own. And you know what you know. And YOU are the one who’ll decide where to go…

I am married to my moon & stars, Valery Amador… and together we live happily ever after in the Great NW.
